History of the House and the Area: A painter, professor of the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts - Hanns Fechner (1860-1931), lived on the neighboring plot, who named his house "Hegal" meaning "Hege des All" - "Shelter for all". At the end of the 19th century, Fechner lived in Berlin, where he was a professor of painting and a well-known portraitist in the circles of the imperial court. In the early 20th century, he founded an amateur folk theater in Szklarska Poreba. After an unfortunate illness that caused him to lose his sight, he moved permanently to the Valley of Seven Houses and here, full of irresistible desire for life, dictated to his wife memories from his former painting studio. The idea of Hanns Fechner was to organize a festival in Szklarska Poreba called "Johanniswoche". It was an event where artists residing here met creatively with the residents of Karkonosze. During events always organized in the week of the Midsummer Night, there were performances of folk theaters, performances of folk groups, literary evenings, exhibitions of local crafts, painting vernissages, or various musical concerts. The culmination of these festivals was the Night of St. John, during which dozens of bonfires were lit in the meadows around Szklarska Poreba, serving as places for joint meetings and fun (unless it rained, as it did in 1923). The week ended with a colorful parade of participants in folk costumes led through the entire town. The house we have on offer was built around 1924 as a summer residence in the modern "Bauhaus" style by Hanns' son, also a painter, Werner Fechner. Location: The house is located in Szklarska Poreba, near the Podgórze Estate. In the area, there are various apartment buildings intended for tourists, so the house can be a great investment for short-term rental. An Aquapark is currently being built next to the house. The plot offers a beautiful view of the mountains. We cordially invite you to view this unique offer.
