Konopki Wielkie (German: Gross Konopken, from 16.07.1938: Hanffen) - a village in Poland located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in Giżycko County, in the Miłki commune. The village was established in 1475 under Chełmno law by the commander from Pokarmin, Bernard von Balzhofen. After the plague epidemic in 1709-1711, thirteen abandoned farms remained here, including a mill. In the 18th century, there was a water mill and a windmill in the village. In 1812, a school was established. In the second half of the 19th century, a new road from Giżycko to Pisz was built through Konopki. On June 1, 1906, the railway reached the village as part of the Giżycko - Orzysz - Pisz line. The railway remains include the remnants of a viaduct that once spanned the tracks over a stream and a local road, blown up by German sappers on January 24, 1945. In the area, there are shelters from World War I and II, part of the Giżycko Field Position and the Giżycko Fortified Region, designed to protect the Great Masurian Lakes line from the enemy. At the former evangelical cemetery, a monument remains in honor of fourteen residents of Konopki who died during World War I. It was unveiled in 1928.
