Free City stage VIII - get to know the investment

The Free City estate located in Gdansk has been designed in the shape of a traditional, green town, with a clear layout of internal streets, a representative main avenue and a city square, in such a way that as much of the existing landscape with its gentle hills, meadows and old orchard is preserved and incorporated into the planned investment. The estate consists of eight multi-family residential-service buildings adjusted in height to the hilly terrain. The designed layout includes about 1200 apartments, which gives the complex the rank of a self-contained estate.

The buildings are low, three-story structures with representative lobbies and functional, spacious apartments with a height of 2.70 m. The main motif repeated in all buildings is birds. Each building has its own name, which is a species of a local bird. Interior photographs of many bird species are also included.

The accepted compositional-functional principle in terms of communication creates a clear layout of pedestrian paths and perpendicular paths running between the wings of the buildings and connecting the main axis with entrances to staircases and leading pedestrian paths to streets and parking lots. The urban layout allows for a clear distribution of functions within the estate. Service functions have been designed on the ground floors of individual stages along the main pedestrian flow and the main city square. The adopted layout of the buildings allows for optimal adaptation to the demanding natural landform in the area of the investment.

The Free City estate was designed by the architectural studio “ECO-CLASSIC ARCHITECTS” located in Warsaw at ul. Bukowińska 24 A, operating since 1997.
