The tenement at Sandomierska 23 was built in 1906 for the owner of the K. A. Tschirschnitza bakery chain. The Lutheran Tschirsnitz family had been associated with Mokotów for years. The "Lithuanian" bakery operated in the tenement's courtyard, and a modern branded store was located on the Rakowiecka side. Before the war, many professions lived at this address: soap maker, locksmith, builder, locksmith, trader, doctor, engineer, machinist, industrialist, clerk, master, midwife, surveyor, accountant, wine and vodka trader. The building was damaged in 1944 and was rebuilt after the war, omitting some details. Karol Tschirschnitz lost both the building and the bakery with the store. In recent years, the building has undergone a major renovation. A memorial plaque has been placed on the tenement dedicated to the Poles who were shot: "On August 4, 1944, the Germans shot 9 Poles here". Sandomierska Street derived its name from the type of bread "Sandomierski", which was baked in the pre-war period and after the war in this tenement.
