Kamienica Siemensa – the former seat of Polish Electric Factories Siemens, is a gem of architecture on Piotrkowska Street in Lodz, comparable to the prestigious buildings of Berlin or Vienna. The apartments being created here, due to their location, historical value, careful restoration, and preservation of many original elements, rise to the rank of architectural works of art.
The building is distinguished by the style of classical modernism – monumental facade, huge glazing – and a rich history. It was built as the headquarters of the Polish Electric Factories Siemens Joint Stock Company, was owned by the Commercial and Industrial Bank, and after the war hosted prominent press editorial offices. In its new form, the century-old Kamienica Siemensa meets the needs of the most demanding residents.
The modernist Kamienica Siemensa is a phenomenon among the secessionist buildings on Piotrkowska Street. It impresses with its monumental facade, elegant bas-reliefs, and huge glazing. Registered as a historical monument, the building is an architectural work from the early 20th century in Lodz.
The original appearance of the tenement house is the work of Karl Janish. The German architect brought innovative patterns from Berlin to Lodz: reinforced concrete structures, high-quality decorations, spacious interiors, and impressively large windows. The noble form is complemented by stylized Ionic half-columns and an architectural facade lined with natural stone.
In the central part of the facade, there is a brass inscription "SIEMENS". This is a tribute to the original owner and a symbolic reference to the history of the building. The whole is adorned with a decorative tympanum featuring the coat of arms of the industrious bee. Its representation is not accidental. In architecture, the bee is a symbol of work and harmony with the surrounding environment. This beautiful decoration has become the main motif of the new edition of Kamienica Siemensa.
In Kamienica Siemensa, 87 luxury apartments are being created, ranging from 25 to 215 m². The vast majority of them are functional studios with an average area of about 30 m². Thanks to the modular structure, they can be combined into larger, multi-room apartments. The height of the rooms will be up to 3.7 m.
Common areas include a sauna, fitness, and cinema room. There will be 5 service premises on the ground floor.
The facade of the tenement house resembles the most prestigious buildings, such as the Vienna Hyatt Hotel. Inside, the staircases with original window panes are impressive. The corridors with historical wooden structures will retain their historical character.
The highest quality is also visible in details such as natural stone, exotic wood, and marble elements. Decorative railings, door joinery, window grilles, decorative plasterwork on ceilings and walls, and wooden partitions will be renovated in accordance with the recommendations of the Conservator of Monuments.
