In Warsaw at 39 Hoza Street, there is a tenement house where during the Warsaw Uprising a field hospital operated, and in September 1945 the building came into the hands of Polish Airlines LOT. The building is an example of a large city and luxurious tenement house. This house was built for the Lichtenbaum family.
The tenement house was built in 1911 by architect Waclaw Heppen and builder Jozef Napoleon Czerwinski. They became famous in Warsaw for erecting large city tenement houses with rich architectural decoration. The facade is enriched with decoration in the form of rustication, bas-relief garlands, or varied balconies. There are also elements of Art Nouveau architecture. The passage through the gate also presents itself effectively.
Hoza Street in Warsaw in the early 20th century, like today, was one of the most fashionable and expensive streets in the entire city. In this area, both wealthy residents of Warsaw and passersby often visited.
Although the tenement house number 39 at Hoza Street was built for the Lichtenbaum family, the most famous owner of the building was the prima donna of the Warsaw Operetta, Wiktoria Kawecka, the then musical star of the capital.
