Prestige and quality
The Grottgera Residence 16 features timeless and exceptional architecture with the highest quality functional apartments in a prestigious neighborhood. Sunny apartments with a height of 3.4 m, representative entrance doors to the apartments, wooden windows, stylish balconies, and tastefully designed common areas, including an elegant lobby.
We care about comfort and quality, which is why the revitalization includes installing a comfortable elevator, video intercoms, and monitoring, as well as implementing new installations such as ventilation, water-sewer, electrical, and fiber optics, and above all, the use of high-quality radiators and a modern recovery installation, reducing heating costs by about 20%.
The most exclusive district of Poznań
Johow-Gelande is the name of the former complex of luxurious tenements located between the current streets: Matejki, Wyspianskiego, Ulanska and Grottgera, Chelmonskiego, Siemiradzkiego, and Kossak, across from the former Botanical Garden (now Wilson park).
Its construction began at the beginning of the 20th century according to the innovative urban concept of Max Johow (the second architect being Emil Asmus), which significantly relates to the designed years later in Berlin - Willmersdorf.
The location of this district is exceptional. Between Wilson and Kasprowicz parks, among historical representative tenements. Close to the vibrant CITY PARK, MPT, and Palm House. Full of charming and atmospheric places of modern Poznań.
Exquisite standard of tenements
The historic Johow-Gelande quarter was built with beautiful, impressive, and representative tenements. These properties were four- and five-storey without inner courtyards, which was a novelty at the time. The exteriors were designed with gardens at the front, while at the back were courtyards, which constituted shared, often interestingly arranged green areas. The spatial arrangement was also innovative. Their parts were protruded toward the garden and alternately turned to the retracted part of the house on the opposite street. This method allowed lighting rooms whose windows opened to the back of the tenements.
The buildings were the work of various architects mainly from Berlin, graduates of German schools. Hence the main architectural style here is Art Nouveau. Interestingly, similar Berlin buildings were destroyed during the war, while examples of the Berlin Art Nouveau can be viewed on Berlin postcards or... in Poznań. The estate had an elite character, and the recipients of the premises were affluent individuals: officials, lawyers, high-ranking military, merchants, and doctors.
