Lakes around Ostróda

Lake Drweckie
This is the third largest lake in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, with an area of about 1140 hectares and a length of about 12 km. Its maximum depth is about 23 m, and the shoreline stretches over 30 km.
It is the heart of the region: numerous marinas, docks, water sports centers - ideal for kayakers, sailors, and anglers. The lake serves as a starting point for many water routes, including the Drweca Trail or the route through the Elbląg-Ostróda Canal.
On its shores is the largest inland pier in Poland - stylish, letter “L”, with benches, a gazebo, and bathing areas, which is a popular place for walks and evening meetings.
Fishing is excellent here - you can catch pike, zander, bream, or tench. For sailors, equipment rentals and boat and kayak trips are available.
It is also worth visiting the monuments: the Teutonic castle, Gothic churches, and the Ostróda lock (part of the Elbląg Canal).


Lake Pauzenski (Puzy)
Located in the northwest of Ostróda, connected to Lake Szelag Wielki and Drweckie through a network of canals, streams, and watercourses.
It has an area of about 211.8 ha, a length of about 3.8 km, and an average depth of only 2 m.
The shores are picturesque - numerous bays, islets, numerous recreational centers, and around lead hiking and biking trails.
Lake Szelag Wielki and Mały
Boat trips from Ostróda lead through the Ostróda Lock and Mała Ruś - connected by canals to Drweckie.
Szelag Wielki is a long trough lake, with wild shores, pine forests, and the opportunity to meet herons, cranes, or eagles.
Szelag Mały, popular among cyclists - the route around the lake is about 9 km, starting in Stare Jabłonki. The shores are little developed, ideal for peaceful relaxation.
