During World War II, the tenement was within the Warsaw ghetto, after the regulation of the southern border, it was excluded from the closed area, avoiding destruction during the uprising and later liquidation action (1943). It also survived the Warsaw Uprising (only the roof burned) and stands today in nearly unchanged form. During the war, it was home to Mary Berg, the author of 'Diary from the Warsaw Ghetto'. The building is listed in the register of monuments and has had all installations replaced, managed by the housing community.
