The history of the historic building began around 1880 when the tenement was raised. At that time, there was a casino for officers of the Russian garrison in the building, as well as a photography studio.
The building was partially destroyed by fire in 1939 and fell into the hands of new owners, but shortly after that, the city was bombed. Its subsequent owners, after renovating the building, employed Jews to help in the colonial shop. The Gestapo demanded their dismissal, but they did not agree, and soon after, they were executed for hiding employees. From that moment, the building fell into the possession of the Gestapo. A transit camp was established here. The ground floor windows were bricked up, leaving only narrow slits. Two guard towers were also added to the building's structure. Meanwhile, in the building's basements, there was a temporary prison. After the war, around 1950, a court operated in it for a while, and today it is partially a residential building.

As part of her diploma work, MSc Eng. Arch. Klaudia Krajewska addressed the issue of revaluation along with the adaptation and expansion of the mentioned tenement.
The idea of the designed project was to restore the memory of the historical building and also to attempt to give it a new function, which would be a kind of summary of history. The assumption was to design a volume adjacent to the historic tenement. It was to expand the functional program with new functional spaces. The project was based on an axis layout spaced every 4 meters, where in the center it was decided to open a volume with additional biologically active space in the form of an internal patio with stairs. The whole was to serve as a museum with a media library and a café space and a small audiovisual room for about 50 people. The object was designed so that both the existing and newly designed buildings could operate independently if necessary. Despite the small plot area, it was also possible to extract as much biologically active space as possible by additionally using vertical gardens on the northern walls of the existing and new object.
